Culture Night at Carlingford Lough - A Celebration of Art and Ecology

Join us for a deep dive into the natural and cultural wonders of Carlingford Lough.

Our Culture Night programme will feature live performances, a multi-sensory exhibition of sound, movement, film, images and stories told to sculptures all inspired by life in, around and under the surface of the Lough.

The exhibition will feature local heritage, underwater, documentary and cyanotype photographs along with paintings, mix-media prints and sculptures and writings from creative workshops by Shifting Tides arts contributors in July and August.

Improv theatre group, We Built This City on Rock and Coal, will present their unique blend of unscripted science and comedy theatre which explicitly acknowledges the challenges faced by each audience, making space for emotional responses, and inspire hope for action to make a difference.

Altogether, you can look forward to an immersive multimedia experience, and sustainability workshops - that will connect you with the magic of the Lough and the change-making power of combining art, ecology and community. You can book for the full event, 4 pm-9.30 pm, or book separately for the individual elements of the event.

This free event is part of a series hosted by the Shifting Tides project. The Shifting Tides brings together coastal communities from the twin shores of Carlingford Lough, and across the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, to foster new connections with local marine environments through practical ecology and the collaborative creative arts. See www.theshiftingtides.org

Shifting Tides is a recipient of the Creative Climate Action fund, an initiative from the Creative Ireland Programme. It is funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media in collaboration with the Department of the Taoiseach. The fund supports creative, cultural and artistic projects that build awareness around climate change and empower citizens to make meaningful behavioural transformations.
